What We Do With Stairs
Ridgeline Western Construction handles the structural carpentry that keeps stairs safe and solid—both inside and out. We expose runs as needed, cut or reinforce stringers, replace treads and risers with sound boards, and repair any landing where rot or movement has loosened the step. Steven Moreno checks every connection for shake and decay, then secures loose framing with new lumber, shims, and proper anchors so the stair feels firm all the way through.
For staircases that need concrete footings or connect to an exterior landing, we coordinate licensed concrete subcontractors under our contract. Handrails and guardrails get rebuilt on a fixed base, not patched where wood is spongy. Any finish work on steps or balusters waits until the structure is stable and meets code, so upgrades don’t cover up problems underneath.
Stair projects mean tight work zones and phasing so homes stay usable. Inside, we contain dust and keep at least one staircase or entry open when possible. Outside, we slope new treads for water drainage and tie connections into treated framing or concrete. For properties subject to SB721 or SB326 inspections, or in wildfire zones, we use code-rated materials and document compliance right up to the inspection.
