What We Do With Trim

Ridgeline Western Construction self-performs all the structural preparation and carpentry for trim—replacing rotted or warped fascia, rebuilding damaged door and window casings, reattaching loose baseboards or installing new ones, and fixing the framing behind the finish when needed. It starts by pulling existing trim, checking for water damage or substrate failure under the surface, shimming or replacing backing as needed, and making sure every piece sits flush, stable, and true. Whether scribing interior baseboards to uneven floors or fitting exterior corner boards against repair work, the trim only goes on when the underlying structure is right.

For trim projects connected to other trades—say, where electrical outlets land in new casing, or fresh paint needs sequencing—we manage the whole process under our contract. Licensed electricians handle any new wiring or fixture moves, and our painters finish trim to match the rest of the home, inside or out. If the job ties into larger work like siding replacement or wrapping eaves, we coordinate each step so weather-exposed surfaces are closed up fast and nothing gets skipped. Framing and primary carpentry stay in-house, while specialty scopes like wiring or complex exterior finishing go to trusted licensed partners.

On interior jobs, we contain dust, minimize disruption to living spaces, and time paint so areas return to normal quickly. With exterior trim, especially fascia and exposed assemblies, staging and weather protection come first. Every joint gets caulked, and raw wood is primed before paint touches it. We use engineered wood, composites, or solid lumber as the location demands—no material is placed where it can’t handle the exposure. Southern California homes hide termite and moisture damage under trim, so every board we pull is a check for what you can’t see until the finish is off.
