For attached ADUs, Ridgeline Western Construction handles the structural carpentry directly — this means opening and reinforcing load-bearing walls, tying new framing into shared roofs or existing foundations, and building fire-rated separations between the main house and the new unit. We read the existing framing before any cuts are made, identify what structural members carry real loads, and coordinate with engineering as needed for new headers, shear panels, or foundation work.

The entire project moves under a single contract. We bring in licensed plumbing, electrical, and HVAC subcontractors for all new or relocated systems, and manage their scheduling against the framing sequence. Roofing transitions, when required, are delivered through our licensed roofing partner. We handle permits and inspection milestones with the city, making sure each trade’s rough and final inspections are called out in the right order so there are no hold-ups closing out the job.

Attached ADU conversions come with logistics unique to working inside or alongside the primary home. We address site access for crews and material deliveries, setting up dust protection and maintaining security so the rest of the house stays livable during the build. Noise and work-hour constraints are planned into the schedule, especially if the main home is occupied.

On the structural and code side, our focus is on clean tie-ins – matching new framing to the original with dimensional or engineered lumber as the span demands, and setting hardware that meets each jurisdiction’s fire separation and energy code. Where garage conversions bring slab cuts or existing foundation quirks, we evaluate what can be reused and what needs new concrete, never concealing problems behind finished floors or walls.
